I left bananas out while on a weeks vacation, I’ve been battling fruit flies since. If I’m on my sofa they are flying directly at my face, very aggressive. I’ve put out every trap known to man kind and have killed over 100 so far. I’ve thinned them out but just can’t get rid of them. Makes it hard to cook or eat. This is mid December and I’m still dealing with them, almost 2 months. Should I contact a pest control company?

I put a banana skin cut into pieces in a jar the river the banana skin went black the more fruit flies went in I covered it with cling film and put holes in it

I used to work in a fruit fly lab. larva don’t lay eggs. they become a pupa. 8 hours after a female fly hatches out of her pupa stage she can lay fertile eggs if she’s been fertilized. the traps sound like a great idea.try paying attention to where the most concentrated fruit flies are to find the source fruit or vegetable that they’re hatching out of. I once found them coming out of a bag of onions.

Apple cider trap did not work for me. Had a self made vinegar spray bottle lying with me and just for the heck of it I sprayed it in my trash bucket and sink and after 24 hours not a single fruit fly in my kitchen!!

I have a friend who has had massive amounts of fruit flies or Gnats for a few months now and they’re getting worse. Fly strips, vinegar, have caught tons but they’re endless!!! Where in the heck are they coming from??? HELP!!!!!!!
Gonna bomb the whole house now is the next thing to try!!!!

In reply to Iluminameluna. I put a small piece of lemon to attract all the flies, after an hour, sprayed colin, the glass cleaner on it! Voila! All gone!! Before I resorted to this, even I tried red vinegar and soap, what and what not.. nothing worked.. but colin, my saviour did!

I used apple cider vinegar and Saran Wrap with holes (not too small) in in and they swarmed to get in!

I’ve had good luck just vacuuming fruit flies. I take my vacuum out and dump the container right away.

I let a small piece of apple by evening and when i see after 3 hrs, i could easily note some small flies over the apple
