While not completely accurate, it worked

We operate under the woolen system, which is a method similar to hand-spinning with cards 59′ long. When I said the new facility we are having built, which will replace our existing system, is the first in generations, I was talking about the woolen system. There are a few worsted mills that are operating and I am good friends with them. With the cotton system, there are a number of giant facilities for the commercial market. Also, there are mini-mills, which make about 3 lbs per hour and are ideal for very small amounts of fiber. I was talking about new woolen mills. We have a few of them left, which have been operating for years. Ours is a commercial sized mill producing 300-500 lbs per shift and will be located in Augusta Springs, VA where we live and where we raise our sheep. I do hope I have answered your questions. I apologize for any misunderstanding.

Spinning and weaving guilds are constantly promoting the use of high quality wools to create clothing, decor pieces, rugs, horse blankets, and many other uses. PETA is also telling the public lies about shearing wool kills the sheep, when in fact, if sheep are not sheared, eventually they will become sick and possibly die. It’s sad that the general public buys into the rhetoric of paid career Activists who have not done any research before they disseminate their propaganda. The USDA is should do current research and update their message before publishing. There is a new movement that is tagged as “Shop Local Clothing”. Seems like that would be a good partnership between woolen mills of any size, small farms and individual artists… a co-op/wool & plant fiber CSA.

Dear Linda, perhaps you misread artickle, which says this is first NEW mill in years. This guy already has a long standing mill, and this will be second operating mill for his American company, but first one built in a couple decades.

Where does he sell it ? Dose he sell and ship frozen? To individual customers Not a store?

I helped (grunt labor, a spinning/weaving friend was in charge) set that up and he has been producing yarns since. As I remember he first used the name Chester Farms on skeins.

NOT True! There are several wool mills in WA and OR most of them at least 15 years in business. Also pelt processing in some areas, including Canada.
Do your research before making such claims!

He opened the wool mill 28 years ago and this is an additional new facility. While there are many homegrown mill operations or people that just cater to a small specific clientele he is on an international level with the hopes of bringing people back to natural fiber and growing the wool market.

Wool is sustainable useful and beautiful. Make all the wool you can, we will use it!
