Enteric methane production is a function of the cow’s rumen as they digest cellosic materials, and they produce methane whether they are eating grass and hay or a TMR of forages, corn and soy.

If the cows were fed their natural diet of grass and hay instead of the feedlot mix of soy and corn they would not be producing methane. Cows are domestic animals and are already “unnatural”. There are no wild herds of Holstein cows.

Man has been selectively breeding and improving the genetics of domestic cows for a long time. This is just the evolution of breeding.

Ronald, I would assume that the meat would definitely have to be labeled. Probably some fancy seal that says CRISPR. As interesting as it is that we are able to do this, I agree with you that it is not natural in the slightest.
