Ken, it doesn’t sound like you read the article. The work discussed is all about using technology developed for space and using it here to not have an impact on the earth. Agriculture’s impact will soon be larger than all of the energy sector’s impact! It already makes up 1/4 of GHG emissions. Producing food in space forces you to look for and understand all the ways it produces waste and design that out of the system as much as possible. That’s what we need to do on earth ASAP. The companies mentioned in the article are focused on doing this to develop products for Earth and Space.

Earth has enough food and resources to feed its population. The issue is with governance and politics. Space farming is the science of producing food in non-earth-like conditions. Please don’t compare apples and oranges
