Not trying to be argumentative, but that’s not how most SUBSCRIPTION based community solar projects work. Maybe on a utility scale community solar they might sell to adjacent states. Where did you getting your information from?
I’m in the business and in most cases, subscription based programs need to provide credits to customers in the specific utility footprint. For instance I can only sign up a customer for a NY farm if they live in NY. UI can’t sing up a CT customer for a farm in NY. Make sense?

I am an energy broker/ consultant and I’ve being doing community solar for the past 3 years with a similar broker model. Let’s connect so I can tell you about our referral program.

I practice land use law in New York’s Hudson Valley where there is still a lack of understanding on the difference between community solar which provides substantial benefits to the local agricultural community and the large utility scale facilities being located in other areas of NYS. Opinion pieces such as this that set the facts straight are much needed and much appreciated!
