My immediate thought when I read the article title, had to read the whole thing and was shocked there was no mention of this. Take a look in the deer bait isle. Molasses, salt and other sweet fruits like apples. I’m sure beets would be the same. Not to mention having sticky stuck to your car, shoes, plows.

So advocating for more sugar beets leads to more glyphosate use. As happened with corn and soybeans, Roundup use drives weed resistance. So resistance to older herbicides like Dicamba and 2,4-D are built into sugar beets seed, leading to more herbicide use. There is no free lunch.
