Hi
I really value the points expressed here by Robbie and would love to read (ideallly, hear in a podcast) much more that this person has to say. Is Modern Farmer able to reach out to them?
Many thanks
Wendy

When you take into account the fact that our food is nutritionally deficient as compared to what our grandparents and their grandparents ate, along with the fact that the total food wastage on a global scale is around 17%, not to mention the fact that a large portion of land is used to grow products that are not for human consumption you might reconsider the how we feed the world comment. I personally feel we should be also forgetting the yield argument as well due to the higher quality more nutrient-dense food produced will actually mean people will need to eat less to achieve health and satiety. In addition, if the broader populaton stopped eating processed foods and demanded more nutrient dense whole foods we would not have the burden of disease we have. I am not aware of whether your Dr is a medical degree or otherwise but still I would have thought someone with your level of education would have made a much more compelling arguement.
Regenerative agriculture is not about higher yields but rather it is about working with nature and restoring the land we currently are abusing with fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides, repetitive tillage and sucking water out of the ground to spray on crops that don’t feed anyone.

Eating local is a big part of your practice, Norman. Fruit and vegetables grown. up he road, often by gardeners more than farmers, keep us healthy and well fed, if we have access.

Are there any proven facts/results about this REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE yielding higher than the present levels of yield. As the compitative demands for land ( land for food production, housing, communication etc.,) operates all the while without increasing the yields per unit area we have no alternatives at the moment to feed the ever increasing population around the world.

Regeneration has it’s roots in indigenous lifeways and the creation of systems of reciprocity. Neither certification (none on the market whatsoever, in fact) adequately address power dynamics in global colonial supply chains. They are simply a reframe, a repackaging of source truths harvested from indigenous knowledge while discarding the truly transformative (and regenerative) aspects.

I have a question, are we really feeding or are we keeping them alive with many health problems arising from low nutritional density crops?
How about the historical accumulated loss of organic matter around the world?

Just finished eating the plums and tomatoes from a small farmer 3 acres. More a hobby than s living Yes, his fruit was superior in taste to the organic produce at the store. It would be good to encourage these practices and try to keep our ecosphere more alive.

Highly unlikely. Makes mockery of the hard work and time required to improve soil health and points out the lack of transparent verified measurements and standards on soil health
